Signing ceremony at the Qatalum office in Mesaieed
Officials from Qatalum, Qatar Aluminium Extrusion and ALUNOOR during the signing ceremony. Doha: Qatalum, the Qatari aluminium smelter, has announced the signing of supply contracts with ALUNOOR and Qatar Aluminium Extrusion for the sale of premium aluminium.
The signing ceremony at the Qatalum office in Mesaieed was attended by Qatalum CEO Tom Petter Johansen and Deputy CEO Khalid Mohammed Laram; Owner and General Manager of ALUNOOR Jassim Abdul Noor, and Chairman of Qatar Aluminium Extrusion Abdul Rahman Al Ansari.
The total volume of both the contracts is approximately 10,000 tonnes for 2013 of which close to 800 metric tonnes will be delivered monthly. Although a small amount by global downstream standards, the significance of the deals is in the pioneering of a downstream aluminium industry in Qatar.
Deliveries to local customers started in mid-2012 on a trial basis during the customers’ ramp-up operations and to test the product at their facilities. The excellent quality of Qatalum products was appreciated by both customers, thus the new contracts represent a long-term commitment for supply from Qatalum.
The two companies who have signed these supply contracts have varied expertise and market focus. ALUNOOR has two broad profiles, in industry and construction, making up 20 and 80 percent of its work, respectively. In construction, it produces windows, doors, metal curtains and building exteriors.
In industrial production, ALUNOOR makes products for other factories to use in the manufacturing process, such as mechanical devices and various high-end precision equipment…

Consulting and management company, MS Certification which guided Alunoor to win the coveted certification, expressed its happiness for the success and appreciated the private company’s management and workforce’s efforts in raising standards.
Alunoor owner and General Manager Jassim Abdulnoor, expressing his joy, said the honour was due to the combined efforts of the management and the staff. The ISO certification will renew the staff’s commitment and spur them to work much harder and offer more efficient and effective services to our clients, he said.
Speaking about offering clients best services, Alunoor Commercial Manager Fatima Jassim Abdulnoor said: “The ISO certification will propel marketing the company’s products in the local as well as global markets.”
